About XCMR

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed weaknesses in society’s ability to rapidly respond to a global public health threat. Recognizing the urgent need to develop a new generation of personal protective equipment (PPE) to improve the future of global biosecurity, XCMR was formed to develop breakthrough technology for respiratory protection from infectious diseases and infection control for pathogens by commercializing a new generation of devices for safe, continuous use utilizing the energy from UVC irradiation.

Today, XCMR’s foundational research and development efforts, together with its academic, commercial and US Government partners, have ignited a growing ecosystem to leverage Electromagnetic Energy for Infection Transmission Resiliency (EMITR)™. EMITR is XCMR’s broad-based platform/program for the prevention of airborne biological threats, leveraging novel uses of UVC irradiation with data and sensor fusion. While some companies use UVC to treat built environments, XCMR is focused on protection devices for use at close range, where primary transmission and infection is ground zero. Uses of XCMR’s Near-field Infection Protection (NIP)™ devices provide biosafety protection from aerosol transmission of biological threats in a variety of stationary and mobile settings found generally where people or animals interact in close proximity.

XCMR's next generation of mobile biodefense and biosecurity solutions are designed to revolutionize biological threat protection capabilities. By integrating the most effective and safe spectrum of UVC energy into wearable, portable, and stationary NIP devices, XCMR can reduce exposure to airborne pathogens by directing a controlled continuous ‘invisible’ bubble of irradiated air to maximize infection prevention as well as reduce risks related to antimicrobial resistance.

XCMR’s NIP technology is also expected to greatly reduce environmental waste from single-use masks, lower incidence and prevalence of respiratory disease (e.g., flu, RSV, hMPV), have potential as a universal safety device akin to seat belts for public health, and be far more capital and time efficient than medical countermeasures (i.e., antibiotics and vaccines).

With a highly experienced, multidisciplinary science and business team of experts, the XCMR mission is to transform and modernize biodefense and biosecurity efforts with robust protection to our military and civilian populations for optimum efficacy in real-world conditions, while preserving human-safety, comfort, affordably and availability - to all population needs.
